ERASING THE BORDER BETWEEN THE REAL WORLD AND THE SIMULATED WORLD

The future user interface will not be a screen on your desk. It isn’t going to be a pocket-sized screen, either. It will mimic the real world, with small assistance from advanced technologies.

After reading the preceding paragraph, you may be wondering and confused. Can we attend the meeting without a laptop or a phone, without a laptop and phone can we do anything .is this possible?

The answer to the above queries is a “BIG YES!”. Do you want to know how it is going to be possible, “ EXTENDED REALITY “ is the solution. Let’s dive into the topic of extended reality.

Extended reality: What is it?:

Extended reality is referred to as “XR” in short form. XR is a newly emerging technology, it is a blanket term for all immersive technologies. Through XR, we will obtain a spectrum of experiences that blur the distinction between the actual world and a virtual one. The technology involves the user via audio, visual, possibly olfactory, and tactile cues. Most media technologies extend our perception of reality by combining the digital and “actual” worlds or by generating a truly immersive experience.

Are you still confused about the topic?

We are here to explain in simple words, Extended Reality (XR) is the interaction of humans and computer-generated imagery in both the real and virtual worlds. Extended Reality is a subset of Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Mixed Reality (MR). The concept of Extended Reality (XR) emerged When technologies like Augmented and Virtual reality were being employed by developers and tech businesses all over the world.

TYPES OF EXTENDED REALITY:

The two major types of extended reality are augmented reality and virtual reality.

AUGMENTED REALITY:

Augmented reality overlays digital objects (information, graphics, sounds ) in the real world, exploring the relationship between the virtual world and the physical world. The idea behind augmented reality is to place virtual items and imaginations in the actual world. Augmented reality does not immerse us in any virtual or computer-generated graphics, but rather creates an illusion in digital devices. Users can still engage in both dimensions and have access to the real world.

Example:

“Snapchat ” uses augmented reality which helps customers to take photos which are having so many filters, these filters just create illusions of being there but not present real.

VIRTUAL REALITY:

Virtual Reality (VR) is a computer-generated atmosphere with believable images and objects that actively involves the client in their surroundings. VR visually takes the customer from the actual world to the virtual environment. This environment is experienced by using an Interactive Virtual headset or helmet. VR enables us to engage ourselves in computer games as if we were one of the players, study how to perform surgical treatment, and enhance the quality of sports training in order to reach high productivity. The objects present in VR are graphically generated by computers, Artificial items are created to have the appearance of being original(real). Users will utilize special VR gadgets to reach this environment, which provides them with a 360-degree picture of the virtual world. These technologies are intended to provide consumers with a far more realistic illusion.

Example:

In some country, defense training use VR for training in a simulated military situation.

MIXED REALITY :

Mixed reality is a hybrid of AR and VR in which users can engage both the virtual and physical worlds at the same time. Special MIXED REALITY devices enable customers to see their environment. These MIXED REALITY gadgets are significantly more powerful than VR, and they are also a lot more expensive! However, these technologies allow you to engage with your surroundings digitally. Wearing an MR gadget will provide you with a 360-degree view of your surroundings.

Example :

By wearing MR gadgets you can view all your surroundings from all angles, you can do whatever you want, can throw a stone at the mirror and break the door it will be your MR gadgets, but in the real world, it does not have any changes. At present most companies are investing more in mixed reality to get to know the field of reality.

In short, with Extended Reality (XR), people can virtually explore locations, experience as if they were present there, and communicate with other people on XR. As a result, it combines all three AR, VR, and MR technologies.

Still not understand the difference between AR vs VR?

Here is the pictorial representation of AR VS VR

RELATION BETWEEN AR AND VR AND XR AND MR :

PROBLEMS FACED BY ORGANIZATIONS WHILE CREATING EXTENDED REALITY:

1) Price

2) Electronics

3) Security

These are the biggest problem facing my company in developing extended reality.

1)Price :

The most significant obstacle that firms producing XR face are cost. The XR gadgets are highly expensive. The cost of the hardware is so high that the final cost for the client is also high. so common people cannot access technology at that much cost.

2)Electronic :

XR device hardware development is also a hurdle for organizations in this field. Making hardware is a challenging undertaking because many technology, software, and components are used. The equipment should not only be durable, but also portable and capable of processing a large amount of data fast and efficiently, and it should be inexpensive.

3)Security :

The Main challenge faced by companies is the privacy of the users. the company needs huge data to be stored. which can be more cost-effective. While XR devices are required to generate an environment based on the customer’s specifications, a large amount of private information may be needed to create a consumer experience. The user may be concerned about the privacy of his or her information.

APPLICATION OF EXTENDED REALITY :

1. Entertainment Sector: The entertainment industry can benefit tremendously from XR, just like it does from AR and VR. The entertainment sector can develop new and innovative ways to benefit from this technology.

2. Learning and Training: This industry may benefit from the adoption of XR. Students from all over the world can find and select the best colleges and studies available in their area. Everyone, anywhere in the globe, could use this technology to study. As well, the training of employees and staff could be remotely controlled by utilizing XR.

3. Selling and advertising: Businesses can use XR to promote their product as well as provide customers with hands-on interaction using their items or service. This could be profitable since corporations will need to invest less money on promotion as they can directly give their customers the actual experience of utilizing the item.

So, what’s next?:

I think you’re getting bored!!. We’re towards the conclusion of our topic Please bear with us for a couple of extra moments. Extended Reality is a reality. This isn’t sci-fi or a Bollywood fantasy. This is exactly what successful businesses are now doing right now. They are conducting actual experiments, generating actual solutions, and obtaining concrete results. AR glasses are being used in the field by maintenance personnel to make difficult repairs easily. Working with Extended Reality is revolutionary, innovative, and simply enjoyable. Whether it’s difficult business applications or lighthearted consumer experiences, such innovations have an extraordinary ability to make the user smile. Isn’t through novelty, but rather by genuine additional benefit. As according to recent studies, over 60percent of all participants believe XR would become popular in the next 5 years. To obtain a better understanding of XR, just go through all of the current technologies.
