A tech revolution?

Author: S. Raveendra

In the age of new infrastructure, the 5G rollout will be accelerated. WiFi 6 comes to mind as an alternative method of communication. Coexistence or competition? What kind of relationship will the two have in the future?

Despite extensive media coverage of the concept and implementation of 5G, some people might not be familiar with WiFi 6. The WiFi 6 device protocol is exactly what high-speed network connectivity and low-latency connections are. For the Internet of Everything era, WiFi 6 was developed with the ability to support more device connections and more reliable connectivity than 5G.

5G and its supporting technologies

The fifth generation of mobile networks :

Because of its lower latency, 5G includes advanced features that past generations lacked, like ultra-fast communication. The benefits of 5G include high performance, efficiency, and dependability. It satisfies the connectivity requirements of several IoT machines, objects, and gadgets.

The main technologies of 5G are orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and the 5G new radio (NR) air interface. OFDM is a method for decreasing interference by modulating digital signals across many channels. Additionally, sub-6 GHz and mmWave, which are incredibly fast but have a relatively short range, are used in 5G.

Companies will soon be able to connect tens of thousands of devices that might be used to monitor various patient health data, thanks to the introduction of new wireless standards like WiFi 6. Additionally, these sensors may connect directly to one another, allowing quick and effective data transfer between the devices.

Hundreds or thousands of interconnected IoT sensors might be used for various purposes, like checking blood pressure or heart rate, checking kidney function in urine, and even checking the oxygenation of skin tissue! It is obvious how WiFi 6 and 5G-capable networks will improve healthcare services in the future.

WiFi 6 THE WIFI 6 DIFFERENCE

Increased speed, coverage, and capacity for today’s WiFi demands

Speed: Up to 70% faster speeds on both bands

Coverage: Up to 50% more coverage, with no dead zones

Device Capacity: More simultaneous users, with high WiFi quality for everyone

WiFi 6: Multiple devices can connect to WiFi simultaneously.

As was already stated, WiFi 6 is made to connect everything. Therefore, having many devices connected is a benefit of the technology. The network speed drops off when more devices are connected, even though the prior router could support multiple connections. The main cause of this is a lack of signal channels on the router’s end of the connection.

That is, the channels are already totaled regardless of how many devices you add to the network, and as a result, network performance suffers. On the other hand, this problem will be resolved in the WiFi 6 period. A significant reduction in latency is achieved by the multi-channel strategy, which guarantees that network connectivity is maintained for all connected devices.

A few use cases connected to 5G

A faster mobile device connection is preferred for a number of reasons, including content generation and consumption. For instance, faster video traffic improves the enjoyment of consuming media and entertainment content. The ability of 5G to carry data at rates of up to 20 gigabits per second will be advantageous for social networking, banking, food delivery, e-commerce, and retail.

Mission-critical communications, such as remote healthcare, security, autonomous vehicles, and infrastructure monitoring for smart cities, will be dependent on 5G. Additionally, it connects sensors, equipment, and Internet of Things devices used in manufacturing, automotive security, aviation, the military, and healthcare.

As a result of its excellent performance, durability, and efficiency, 5G offers a wide range of applications. It connects IoT devices and enables companies to build and use private 5G wireless networks. The long-term impact that 5G will have on producers, operators, content providers, app developers, and users will make it an essential engine of economic growth around the world. Everything from edge computing and cloud computing to intelligent cars and artificial intelligence will be powered by it.

Analysis:

As a result, I conclude that 5G and WiFi 6 will be essential for supporting a range of Internet of Things applications. For instance, home automation systems will depend on quick data rates to enable features like remote video chatting, smart locks, and even the ability to turn on appliances with your voice.
